WhatsApp Dark Mode release - Fans get a new look and surprise

WHATSAPP Dark Mode continues to be a much talked about feature and the latest update may shed some new light of what is to come.

Avid WhatsApp followers are patiently waiting for news on the new Dark Mode feature.
This refreshed colour scheme has been rumoured for a while and there's been plenty of speculation about when, or if, it will arrive on smartphones.

Facebook recently pushed out an update to its Messenger app which now allows users to switch to a black background.
And with the social network now owning WhatsApp many had expected the popular messaging service to follow with something similar.

Although nothing has yet materialised from WhatsApp, there's been a number of screenshots posted online claiming to show how this update will look and now there's another leak which may offer fans their best look yet at what is to come.
WAbetainfo, who has a very good track record of getting things right, has just released some screenshots of the famous WhatsApp screen with a darker colour.
The app can clearly be seen with a black background and white type.
However, in a surprise new twist, WAbetainfo is claiming this new option will be called Night Mode and not Dark Mode.
There's no official confirmation if this is true but hopefully, there will be more news soon from Facebook about an official launch.
The news of this updated look comes as WhatsApp has suffered one of its biggest ever security breaches.

It was confirmed earlier last week that hackers were able to remotely install surveillance software on devices, including iPhone and Android smartphones, using a major vulnerability within the platform.
In fact, it seems the malicious code could be installed via a simple phone call to a targets' device.
WhatsApp says the advance cyber threat was first discovered earlier this month and had been used to target a "select number" of users.
Speaking about the threat a WhatsApp spokesperson said: "The attack has all the hallmarks of a private company reportedly that works with governments to deliver spyware that takes over the functions of mobile phone operating systems.
"We believe a select number of users were targeted through this vulnerability by an advanced cyber actor.
"We have briefed a number of human rights organisations to share the information we can, and to work with them to notify civil society."
To make sure you're phone is safe, users are being told to make sure their version of WhatsApp is fully up to date.
